All kids should play ... in Chestnut Ridge Park.
Winning football and hockey games is a team effort. Building a great playground is too.
We want to raise funds to replace the old and much loved Hunter Kelly playground … with a new FOOTBALL-theme accessible play space!
Will YOU be part of our team by donating?
While you might just win some cool swag from the Bills or Sabres - you will win smiles from every kid who gets to play on the new Hunter Kelly playground!
All children and families deserve a space where everyone can play and enjoy the park together ... from kids in wheelchairs to parents with walkers.
At the Hunter Kelly playground, they can enjoy a taste of football, too!
Hunter Kelly Playground at Chestnut Ridge
The original playground, enjoyed by children and families for several decades, is outdated and does not meet current standards. Initial funding has been graciously donated by Kelly for Kids Foundation.
The playground is named for Buffalo Bills Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly's only son, Hunter James. Hunter Kelly was born with Krabbe disease, globoid-cell leukodystrophy, an inherited fatal nervous system disease. He died in 2005 when he was eight years old.
Jim Kelly and his family provide hope to children and their families facing leukodystrophy and other challenges through their gracious generosity.
Chestnut Ridge Conservancy
Chestnut Ridge Conservancy (CRC) supports restoration and preservation of rich natural, recreational and historic resources of Chestnut Ridge Park, the first, largest and most popular county park, in collaboration with Erie County and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry.
CRC was created in 2010 by citizens alarmed by funding cuts to Erie County parks. It is the only organization dedicated to the stewardship of an entire county park. CRC has raised funds to restore the Chestnut Ridge Park casino, the Eternal Flame trail and to build the first totally accessible playground in an Erie County Park, A Playground for All, near the casino.
Chestnut Ridge Park
Chestnut Ridge Park, “The Ridge”, is known for majestic views, Eternal Flame Falls, sledding hill, toboggan runs and historic Works Project Administration (WPA) structures, with 1,230 acres of natural beauty that attracts visitors from throughout western New York and beyond. Created in 1926 by the all-volunteer Erie County Parks Commission, the park is featured by Visit Buffalo Niagara as a regional attraction and always named "Best of" by Buffalo Spree Magazine.
