Helping students living in poverty create a better, independent future by preparing them for jobs in the technology industry.

Message From the Founder

According to statistics on data.nysed.com for the 2019-2020 school year, there were approximately 37,000 high school students in the Western New York school system and 51% of these students living in economically disadvantaged households with approximately 30% of these households being black or brown families.

Approximately 9,500 of those high school students are in the Buffalo school district. 82% of Buffalo’s students are living in economically disadvantaged households with approximately 65% of these households being black or brown families.

The US Census Bureau in 2019 listed the Median Household Income in Buffalo, NY as $37,354. And the Median Individual Income in Buffalo, NY as $23,316.According to Zip Recruiter, the following average salaries for these positions in Buffalo, NY are:

  • Application Administrator average income is $76,000
  • Android Developer average salary is $96,000
  • Technical Project Manager average income is $100,000.

That means that getting these high school students certified is at a minimum doubling the household income in these communities and school districts. Certifications are the key to giving black and brown kids and their families a way to work hard and get out of economically disadvantaged situations and we are addressing an important racial issue that affects black and brown youth.

Our mission is to inspire and empower black and brown youth across Western New York to become creators, producers, and innovators of technology. In response to the color barrier in the tech industry. Because when it comes to diversity, tech’s famed agility is conspicuous by its absence. For decades blacks and Hispanics have been grossly underrepresented in tech jobs. We just could not afford to let it stay this way. With big tech influencing everything in our lives – from what we get to know when researching a topic to how we’re policed – the jobs gap goes way beyond jobs. It’s a civil rights issue.

Our flagship program is Dreamers’ Club, a 43-week afterschool tech bootcamp program, concentrated on mobile development, project management, UI/UX development, cloud computing and data analytics. We aim for each participant to graduate with a certification(s) associated with each club they desire to complete, which will be a big plus on their resume, irrespective of whether they want to hit the job market or apply for college. Youth can join a club at a host site located in underserved areas throughout Western NY. In addition to certification and education training, Dreamerscorp provides mentoring and tutoring to youth who are at risk of educational failure, criminal behavior, or behavioral issues.

Our program is focused in the Buffalo area because that is where we can make the biggest change and help to change the inequality in New York state faster. Each student that goes through our program enters the workforce with the skills needed to get their current and future family members out of poverty. Our goal is to help almost 10% of the Buffalo households living in poverty over the next 5 years.

Dreamerscorp’s mission is to increase diverse representation and leadership in the technology industry by training and certifying black and brown high school students in underserved communities in highly sought after tech skills. We are committed to improving the economic and educational equity in these communities by giving black and brown kids in low-income school districts a way to work hard and pull themselves out of poverty. The technology industry is the fastest growing industry in the world and the job market will grow by 30% within the next 5 years, because everybody’s life is influenced by technology everyday. By making the tech industry more diverse, we are building inclusion and equity in our society. Our program’s purpose isn’t just to get our kids better jobs – it is also about civil rights. Technology is shaped by the people that build it and this can be seen in the information provided when you research a topic online to how we are policed.
