Local Food Grown by Global hands
Brewster Street Farm is an organic urban farm on Buffalo’s East Side, led by resettled refugees with deep agricultural knowledge. Established over a decade ago, the farm currently grows 30 culturally relevant crops on 1.5 acres, distributing produce annually through a CSA, farm stand, and donations. Operated by a team of nine resettled refugees and one manager, the farm serves as both a vital food access hub and a living model of refugee empowerment, community resilience, and sustainable agriculture.
As Brewster Street Farm enters a new chapter, we aim to deepen our impact through a three-tiered growth strategy:
1. Stabilize core operations and maintain current food production and outreach programs.
2. Expand programming, physical capacity, and community engagement—including apprenticeships, new crop varieties, and youth programming.
3. Transform the farm into a nationally recognized model for cultural preservation, food justice, and community healing, with infrastructure like a teaching kitchen, greenhouse, and year-round programming.
In partnership with Journey’s End Refugee Services, Brewster Street Farm will integrate educational pathways, economic opportunity, and social connection for both Buffalo’s immigrant community and East Side residents. Our vision is a thriving, inclusive space where food, culture, and connection grow side by side.
To fully realize this future, we are seeking funding partners who share our commitment to food security, social justice, and the transformative power of urban agriculture.
