The American Red Cross, Western New York Region serves 27 counties, including the cities of Binghamton, Buffalo, Corning/Elmira and Rochester. Each day, thousands of people – people just like you – provide compassionate care to those in need. Our network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share the mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world. We roll up our sleeves and donate time, money and blood. We learn or teach life-saving skills so our communities can be better prepared when the need arises. We do this every day because the Red Cross is needed - every day.
Bills and Sabres fans are well-known for their collective generosity and goodwill, and this is your chance to support the life-saving work of the Red Cross. Here’s just a sampling of what your gifts support in our region:
Blood Donation
- Every day we provide life-saving blood products to more than 130 hospitals in the Western New York region, including every hospital in Buffalo.
Service to the Armed Forces
- We provide support to military service members and their families through every stage of a service member’s career from their first day of enlistment and into retirement.
- We provide in-person support for troops on all military installations in the U.S. and more than 35 overseas installations, including East Asia, Middle East, and Europe.
Disaster Relief
- We respond to hundreds of home fires each year, providing free shelter and financial assistance to those affected.
- Our Sound the Alarm program provides free smoke detectors in homes in areas of greatest need and has resulted in 53 verified lives saved in our region since the program’s inception in 2014.
- Our volunteers and staff stand ready each day to respond to all types of disasters, both locally and nationally.
Preparedness Training
- In 2023, we trained over 54,000 individuals in preparedness programs including Aquatic/Water Safety, Caregiving, and First Aid/CPR/AED training.
It is thanks to the generous gifts of donors like you that help the Red Cross continue to serve its mission.
Thank you!
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
