No Child Deserves to Live in Fear! BACA helps abused children resume their childhood.
An abused child often feels alone and afraid. Afraid of the abuser, or even the dust bunnies under the bed. Alone, because it is a frightening prospect to be wounded by someone you trust, and then relive the abuse when the abuser is prosecuted. An organization exists to support abused children and fill the gaps in existing agencies and services. The support comes from what some might think is the most unlikely of sources—Bikers. Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), is an organization created 27 years ago with chapters in 18 countries and 47 states. BACA uses social support to empower a child and help them through the darkness that follows the abuse. BACA welcomes the child into their family with their own biker vest, a teddy bear signed and hugged by all members of their biker family, and a commitment to “show up and be there” if the child needs them at any time. A family that will come with them through all phases of the prosecution of the abuser, if necessary. A family that will stand outside their house all night long in a snowstorm so that they sleep soundly. A family that will just stop by to check in and say hello. A family that will do whatever is necessary so that the child need no longer be afraid and can resume their childhood. No one does what BACA does. No one.
Our Mission: The Buffalo, New York Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse ("BACA") exists as a body of bikers to empower abused children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live. We stand ready to lend support by showing up for the children 24/7/365. We do this by providing emotional support, court escorts, assistance gaining access to professional therapy, other child welfare services, and related support. BACA has chapters in 18 countries and 48 states. We support abused children throughout Erie, Wyoming, Cattaraugus, Allegheny and Chautauqua counties.
