For nearly two centuries, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library has been fundamental to Buffalo’s cultural and intellectual life. We are both our community's oldest cultural institution, as well as the people's cultural institution with open doors to all.

Profoundly Public in all we do, we strive to provide reliable, inclusive, and essential services to all. The Library provides welcoming spaces where every voice is valued, and every individual has the freedom to explore their interests, free from algorithms and paywalls.
