It Takes A Village!
Our 35-acre campus includes a Historic Village with ten historic and two replica structures, a demonstration Farmstead with live animals, a Museum Exhibit and Collections Building housing more than 40,000 artifacts and 20,000 archives, and a multi-use Education Building. These buildings were moved to our campus when they were threatened with demolition during the Town’s rapid growth and development. A dedicated, on-going program of preservation and conservation has resulted in these buildings being restored to their 19th century appearance, so that visitors may experience what life was like in the Buffalo Niagara Region during an earlier era.
Our mission is to preserve, interpret, and exhibit the agricultural history and rural heritage of the Buffalo Niagara region. BNHV has 11 heritage breed chickens that produce 40 eggs a week, 8 Heritage Breed Hog Island sheep that give us 30 pounds of wool each spring, and 1 barn cat named Zazzles. BNHV offers educational programming, field trips, summer camp, classes, tours, special events, rental opportunities, artisan workshops, community outreach activities, and community access to a variety of artifacts and historic resources retained in the Collections and Research Library.
