It Takes A Village!
Our 35-acre campus includes a Historic Village with ten historic and two replica structures, a demonstration Farmstead with heritage breed animals, a Museum Exhibit and Collections Building housing more than 40,000 artifacts and 20,000 archives, and a multi-use Education Building. These buildings were moved to our campus when they were threatened with demolition during the Town of Amherst's rapid growth and development. A dedicated, on-going program of preservation and conservation has resulted in these buildings being restored to their 19th century appearance, so that visitors may experience what life was like in the Buffalo Niagara Region during an earlier era.
As part of our preservation efforts, the popular 1880 Williamsville School House is in desperate need of painting and repair to its exterior. The cost to restore this building is $4,000. Each donation will be matched by the Williamsville Rotary, up to $2,500! Please make your gift today to preserve history for our past, present and future generations!
Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village's mission is to preserve, interpret, and exhibit the agricultural history and rural heritage of the Buffalo Niagara region. BNHV offers educational programming, field trips, tours, classes, special events, artisan workshops, rental opportunities, community outreach activities, and community access to over 60,000 of artifacts and historic resources retained in the Collections and Research Library.
