For 63 years the Ellicottville Memorial Library has been promoting life-long literacy by providing opportunities for education and personal growth to all those we serve.
The Ellicottville Memorial Library has been a quiet, faithful friend of our community for 63 years. Through the decades, many folks have taken leadership roles, volunteered and nurtured it to what has become a place of warmth and welcome, with the nostalgia and dignity which befits a small-town library. In 2006 we were fortunate to be able to construct a new facility. The success of the new library has been overwhelming. Thirteen computers are now offered to the public and in addition to our thousands of books, materials such as audio books, e-books and DVDs are now available. Last year over 26,000 items were checked out of the library compared to 4,500 in the old library. We are proud to have served the community for 60 years connecting people to information, experiences and services that enhance their quality of life so our community can learn, enjoy and thrive. We live in an age of information and the Ellicottville Memorial Library helps to provide access to that information. Local libraries promote literacy and lifelong learning and are vital to our economy and communities. As an organization that has been evolving for sixty years, we are certainly not your grandma’s library anymore (but grandmas are always welcome).
The Ellicottville Memorial Library's mission is "to promote life-long learning, increase cultural and artistic awareness and to provide opportunities for education, personal growth and enrichment, free of charge and without bias, to all of those we serve."
