The Hispanic Heritage Council of Western New York, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that exists to foster and inspire awareness, understanding, and appreciation of past, present, and future contributions of the Hispanic Community in Western New York, and is dedicated to preserving the history of Hispanics in Western New York for future generations.
One of the many ways we fulfill our mission is by offering arts and cultural programming throughout the year and making it accessible to our community.
Your support will ensure the HHC's Music Academy continues to bring free musical instruction to our youth in Western New York.
The Hispanic Heritage Council's Music Academy afterschool program focuses in providing free musical instruction to underserved children, ages 12-17, with a concentration on guitar. Our program is entirely free to the students, with the Music Academy providing musical instruments, books, music, and all related class material. This program enriches our students' cultural experience while providing tools for developing their social, academic, and professional lives.
Our program focuses on giving students an integral music education. Throughout the school year, our students receive weekly classroom guitar classes that cover important subjects such as music literacy, music theory, music history, applied guitar studies, music ensemble, and special presentations by guest artists. At the end of the school year, each of the students will be able to demonstrate what they've learned by performing short solo pieces, as well as ensemble pieces with their classmates, in a final public recital.
Our program offers a serialized multilevel/year curriculum, that begins with the very fundamentals of music and guitar playing and ends with preparation for college music program auditions for those that choose this path.
Your generous support will make the arts and culture accessible to our children and youth.
Muchas gracias.
