All-volunteer cat rescue, shelter and adoption organization
Hope for Cats operates Jake’s Place, a cage-free, no kill shelter and adoption center in Buffalo, NY. We also have several foster homes and we are an adoption partner of Tabby Town, the cat adoption center in the McKinley Mall, Blasdell, NY. There is no time limit to the length of time that a cat can stay with us, and admissions are limited only to prevent overcrowding. We receive no government funding, and rely on private donations, fundraising activities and foundation grants to support our work. Since we have no paid staff, all donations go toward the care of our feline residents and foster cats. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and provided with other basic veterinary care. Every cat at Jake's Place is given a thorough check-up each day to identify any potential health problems and there is a daily schedule of feeders, cleaners, and health checkers who see to the needs of the cats and keep them clean, healthy and happy in a loving, home-like environment. We strive to provide the same personal attention and specialized veterinary diagnostics and treatment which our cats would receive as personal pets.
Supporters: There are many individuals who donate through our website, PayPal, the United Way Donor's Choice program, CFC and SEFA (for Federal and NY State employees), iGive, Amazon Smile, or by mail. We have also been fortunate to receive some funding from local and national Foundations.
Hope for Cats is a 501(c)(3) limited admission, no-kill cat rescue, shelter and adoption organization with an all-volunteer staff, that was established in 2007. Our mission is to protect, house, nurture, and socialize abandoned or homeless cats until they can be adopted. Since some of our feline residents and foster cats have special medical needs, or fall into categories not typically accepted by other rescue groups, Hope for Cats also provides a permanent home for any cats who are not able to be adopted.
