The Story of Be a Blessing Buffalo
Restoring the True Spirit of the Season
In June 2019, our family lost someone incredibly dear to us—our father, John Tolley. His sudden passing left a deep void, but also a powerful reminder of everything he stood for: faith, kindness, and the true meaning of giving.
One of our last Christmases with him, we adopted a local family in need—bringing them food, gifts, and a little bit of joy during a time of struggle. It wasn’t about the presents. It was about presence. About showing someone they’re not alone.
That moment planted a seed. And in our father’s honor, that seed grew into Be a Blessing Buffalo.
We are a 100% donation-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in the heart of Buffalo, NY. Our mission is simple: show up for people when they need it most. Whether they’ve lost their job, are battling terminal illness, experiencing homelessness, or enduring life-altering hardship—we see them, and we serve them.
Over the last four holiday seasons, thanks to the generosity of people like you, we’ve been able to help more than 2,250 children and 1,000 homeless men and women in Western New York.
This year, our goal is to reach over 800 children and 250 adults with backpacks filled with warm essentials—socks, hats, gloves, underwear, toiletries—and handpicked gifts from wish lists written by the children themselves.
We can’t do it alone.
We’re calling on the City of Good Neighbors to come together once again.
Every dollar. Every gift. Every act of kindness helps restore dignity, hope, and love during a season that should never be about going without.
Join us in honoring the legacy of giving.
Together, we can be a blessing.
