This year, EPIC – Every Person Influences Children – is proud to focus our Give 716 efforts on raising funds to support our Storytime family literacy programs, as well as the vital operations that keep our mission strong and growing.

For over four decades, EPIC has empowered parents, caregivers, and professionals with the tools they need to help children thrive. In 2025, as we celebrate 45 years of service, we remain committed to the idea that "kids don’t come with instructions" – but with support, guidance, and resources, families can create stronger futures.

EPIC’s Storytime program is a cornerstone of our family engagement work. Through Storytime, we:

1. Distribute diverse, age-appropriate books to children in underserved communities
2. Promote early literacy by hosting engaging, themed reading events for families
3. Model interactive reading techniques that strengthen parent/caregiver-child bonds

Thanks to community support like yours, our programs reach hundreds of families across Western New York – often serving as a child’s first interactive experience with a book they get to keep.

Why It Matters

Studies show that children who are read to regularly at home are better prepared for school – academically, emotionally, and socially. Yet many families face barriers to accessing books, reading materials, and guidance on early literacy. EPIC works to bridge that gap.

In addition to Storytime, your support helps fuel EPIC’s year-round programming, including parenting workshops, youth mentoring, and professional development for educators.
