At Neighborhood Legal Services (NLS), we believe that Justice should be accessible to all - regardless of income. As a not-for-profit law firm, we are proud to provide free legal representation to individuals facing life's most difficult challenges.

With offices in Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Lockport and Batavia our Lawyers are available on a walk-in basis nearly everyday. We serve our clients with compassion and understanding when dealing with issues such as housing insecurity, domestic violence, child support, and access to health insurance.

According to the Legal Services Corporation every $1 invested generates a $7 return in economic and social benefits. Your support helps not only individuals - it strengthens families, reduces the strain on law enforcement, the courts, and prevents costly public spending on emergency medical care and shelters.

As a member of the Buffalo Community since 1976, our mission is to ensure justice through free legal representation for Western New York residents who due to financial vulnerability, disability, discrimination or abuse, require assistance and protection of their civil rights. The largest provider of civil services in Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties, our not for profit law firm has helped thousands of our friends and neighbors to obtain legal services they are entitled to. We assist people in the areas of:

1. Housing (evictions, unsafe housing conditions, housing vouchers, housing discrimination, public housing issues & emergencies and landlord/tenant issues)
2. Family Law & Divorce (domestic violence, family offense petitions, orders of protection, custody/visitation, divorce, paternity, child and spousal support)
3. Public Benefits (temporary (cash) assistance, SNAP (formerly food stamps), Medicaid, Utility shutoffs, Shelter for the homeless, LGBTQ +advocacy)
4. Disability Law (health insurance coverage issues, denial of services, medical bill collection, SSI, SSDI, Student loan issues, SS Overpayments, Medicaid transportation)
5. Special Program or Projects: Justice Bus, Health Navigators, Medical Legal Partnership. Work Incentives Planning and Assistance Project and Student Loan Debt
